Vol. 453 No. 8

Written Answers. - INTERREG II Programme.

Brendan Smith

Question:

48 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will issue to Cavan County Council in respect of roadworks submitted for funding under the INTERREG II Programme; the reason for the delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10040/95]

The INTERREG Programme for Ireland and Northern Ireland 1994-99 was approved by the European Commission on 27 February 1995 and indicative INTERREG road grant allocations were notified to eligible local authorities by my Department on 7 March 1995. The relevant authorities were formally invited on 2 May 1995, to submit suitable road projects for funding under the programme and Cavan County Council submitted its projects on 19 May 1995. The applications are currently being assessed by my Department. There will be no undue delay in this process and I will notify allocations in respect of particular projects as soon as possible.
