Vol. 454 No. 1

Written Answers. - Home-School Liaison Programme.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

27 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if she will consider the application by a school (details supplied) in County Louth for a home/school liaison teacher for the pupils in the school. [88267/95]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the schools to which he refers have been invited to participate in the home-school links programme with effect from September next. The schools in question are among a total of 49 primary schools to which the programme is being extended as a result of the allocation of an additional 30 co-ordinator posts to the service in the current year.

This allocation will bring the total number of primary schools covered by the programme to 183. These schools will have the service of 105 co-ordinators and will involve a total of over 53,300 pupils.
