Written Answers. - Truancy Task Force.
I established the Task Force on Truancy in February 1995 to examine the submissions received from interested parties in response to the Report on Truancy issued by the Department of Education in April 1994 and to consider and make recommedations as to future action required to address the problem of truancy at first and second level.
Submissions have been received by the task force from over 30 individuals and groups.
In order to facilitate the making of submissions, I extended the closing date for these to 31 May. Given that this closing date has now passed, I expect that the task force will complete its work without delay.
