Vol. 454 No. 1

Written Answers. - Funding of Colleges.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

55 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the amount of money that has been expended in hotel catering and tourism studies; and the colleges that have benefited from such expenditure. [9730/95]

An analysis of expenditure on ESF-aided training courses for the hotel, catering and tourism industry which are provided by colleges in conjunction with CERT indicates that, in the period 1990-93 a total of £23.09 million was expended on such activity. The analysis of ESF-aided expenditure in 1994 is being carried out at present. These courses are delivered in the regional technical colleges in Athlone, Cork, Galway, Sligo, Tallaght, Tralee and Waterford as well as Dublin Institute of Technology Cathal Brugha Street and the Tourism College in Killybegs. Separate costings are not available for non-ESF-aided activity.
