Question:

75 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Social Welfare the names and number of people appointed to semi-State boards and other bodies and institutions under the auspices of his Department; and the names and number of women appointed to such boards and institutions. [10637/95]

There are three statutory agencies under the aegis of my Department, namely the Combat Poverty Agency, the Pensions Board and the National Social Services Board.

There are 16 members of the board of the Combat Poverty Agency of whom ten are women:

On 21 June Mr. Gerry Flynn is retiring and will be replaced by Ms Anna Lee as chairperson.
The Pensions Board has 13 members of whom five are women:

Responsibility for the National Social Services Board was transferred to my Department from the Department of Health with effect from 1 June 1995. The National Social Services Board has, ordinarily, 12 members. At present there are five vacancies and of the seven serving members, two are women:
Ms Liz Carroll (Vice Chairperson)
Mr. William Costello
Mr. Martin Duffy
Ms Sally Keogh
Mr. Gerry Kiernan
Mr. Michael McCabe
Mr. Martin Rush
The terms of office of these seven are due to expire on or before 2 July 1995. A new board will be appointed with effect from that date.
From 13 June Mr. Donal De Buitleir will be the new chairperson.
Responsibility for two bodies with which the National Social Service Board is associated has also transferred on a temporary basis to this Department. These bodies are the National Council for the Elderly and the National Validation Body for Social Work Qualifications.
The National Council for the Elderly has a board of 26 members of whom 15 are women:
