Declan Bree

Question:

107 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for Health the number of female private patients who underwent sterilisation operations for family planning purposes in the North-Western Health Board's general hospitals in each of the years 1990 to 1995. [10654/95]

Limerick East): Sterilisation operations are performed for both public and private patients in both of the board's general hospitals.

The number of patients who had operations for sterilisation in 1994 and 1995 are as follows:

Year

Private

Public

1994

1

11

1995

4

4

to date

The information recorded on sterilisation operations does not indicate if such operations are performed for family planning reasons only. The information for years 1990-93 is not readily available within the time available and I will write to the Deputy with this information as soon as it is compiled.
