Vol. 454 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Ivor Callely

Question:

158 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he intends to improve social welfare benefits or relax conditions to meet the special needs of persons with HIV/AIDS; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10574/95]

Improvements in social welfare benefits and the conditions relating to their receipt are matters which are considered each year in a budgetary context. Currently the Social Welfare Act, 1991, exempts for means test purposes any income derived from the Haemophilia HIV Trust Fund established by the Government. Future changes will be considered in the context of available resources.
