148 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will make sufficient resources available within his Department to ensure the speedy assessment and clearance of new plant protection products to assist tillage farmers. [11790/95]
The adequacy of resources for the clearance of new plant protection products is kept under constant review in the light of developments at national and EU levels. The Minister of State, Deputy Jimmy Deenihan, has had recent meetings with the agro-chemical industry, and discussions are continuing with a view to providing additional finance from the industry for the service.
