179 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for the Marine the persons appointed by him or by Ministers of State at his Department as programme managers, advisers, secretaries, assistants, counsellors or back-up staff either in his Department or in constituency offices; the annualised remuneration being paid to these staff; the names of individuals, groups or companies which have undertaken or have been approved to undertake full-time, part-time or casual consultancies, reviews, examinations or analysis or any public relations services on his behalf or on behalf of Ministers of State at his Department; the actual or estimated cost in this regard; the persons, companies, consultants, attachés or otherwise he or Ministers of State at his Department have appointed to semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department; and any reviews, consultancies or reports he or Ministers of State at his Department have commissioned or are due to commission; and the full cost in respect of all these matters. I have not yet formally appointed my personal staff. The following are details of the staff I have designated pending finalisation of contracts of employment in each case. In the interim, these staff have been placed on a basic rate of pay: Conor Barry, Programme Manager, £35,400 per annum; Angela O'Donnell, Special Adviser, £8,813 per annum; Deirdre McDevitt, Personal Assistant, £13,142 per annum; Barbara Cullition, Personal Secretary, £8,813 per annum.

The cost of the above staff is shared jointly by the Marine and Defence Votes reflecting my dual ministerial role.

The Minister of State at the Department of the Marine, Deputy Eamon Gilmore, has made the following appointments: Michael O'Cinnéide, Special Adviser, £33,442 per annum plus an allowance of 12 per cent in lieu of superannuation; Denis O'Callaghan, Personal Secretary, £22,888 per annum plus an attraction allowance of £1,603 per annum.

In addition, the Minister of State has designated a Personal Assistant, Ms Angela Loscher, pending finalisation of her contract. In the interim, she has been placed on a basic salary of £15,363 per annum.

Price Waterhouse management consultants have been retained by my Department to review the organisational and management structures of the fishery service. The estimated cost of their work is £91,016 (including VAT).

Finally the following appointments have been made to agencies under the aegis of this Department.
