57 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the persons appointed by him or by Ministers of State at his Department as programme managers, advisers, secretaries, assistants, counsellors or back-up staff either in his Department or in constituency offices; the annualised remuneration being paid to these staff; the names of individuals, groups or companies which have undertaken or have been approved to undertake full-time, part-time or casual consultancies, reviews, examinations or analysis or any public relations services on his behalf or on behalf of Ministers of State at his Department; the actual or estimated cost in this regard; the persons, companies, consultants, attachés or otherwise he or Ministers of State at his Department have appointed to semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department; and any reviews, consultancies or reports he or Ministers of State at his Department have commissioned or are due to commission; and the full cost in respect of all these matters. The following special advisers and programme managers have been appointed in the Department of Finance.

I have appointed a programme manager, Ciaran O'Meara, on an annual salary of £42,894 with an allowance of 11 per cent in lieu of superannuation. I have also appointed a special adviser, Brendan Lynch, on an annual salary of £42,894 with an allowance of 12 per cent in lieu of superannuation.

Ms Denise Rogers has been appointed as my Secretary and Ms Gerry Ashe as personal assistant in my constituency office. Their respective salaries are £27,156 and £15,600.

Minister of State Deputy Avril Doyle has appointed a personal assistant, Frank Staples, on an annual salary of £18,404. A new Personal Secretary, Betty Comerford, is on an annual salary of £15,671. The Minister's two drivers, Eugene Byrne and Peter Roberts, are each on a salary of £13,185.36.

Minister of State Deputy Hugh Coveney has appointed a special adviser, Frank O'Dwyer. Details of this appointment are not yet finalised. He has also retained the services of Mary Hartnett in his constituency office, Cork, on a salary of £14,774.25. His two drivers, Brian Sullivan and Kieran Collins, are each on a salary of £13,185.36.
