Vol. 455 No. 1

Written Answers. - Western Road Corridor.

John Ellis

Question:

83 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to develop a western road corridor linking the west of Ireland, the northwest and the main euro routes in Northern Ireland. [11624/95]

The Operational Programme for Transport 1994-99 identifies four key road corridors for priority development. These include a western corridor, Letterkenny - Sligo - Galway - Limerick-Waterford-Rosslare, which complements the essentially radial nature of the rest of the network. There are onwards links from this corridor to the A4 and A6 routes in Northern Ireland which are proposed for inclusion in the Trans European Networks, TENs, provided for under Article 129 (c) of the European Treaty.
