Written Answers. - Alzheimer's Sufferers.

Ivor Callely

Question:

32 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the progress, if any, made in introducing legislation to address the complications and all matters relating to Alzheimer's sufferers and their legal affairs and that of their family; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12276/95]

The legislation referred to by the Deputy was presented to the Seanad on 30 June. Entitled the Powers of Attorney Bill, 1995, it will enable powers of attorney to be granted which will operate if and when the donors of the powers become mentally incapable.
