Vol. 455 No. 4

Written Answers. - Planning Permission Requirements.

Seán Power

Question:

87 Mr. Power asked the Minister for the Environment if he will remove the need to erect a sign on a site for planning permission and to revert to the previous requirement to allow a notice in the newspaper to suffice. [12182/95]

Requirements that applicants for planning permission must publish a notice in a newspaper and erect a site notice were introduced by the Local Government (Planning and Development) Regulations, 1994, to increase public awareness of applications and to ensure transparency. I am satisfied that the new requirements have achieved these objectives and I do not, therefore, propose to relax them.
