Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Mary Wallace

Question:

91 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for the Environment if he will extend the home owner grant for people with disabilities to include modifications to cater for the specific needs of the hearing impaired. [12359/95]

Under the disabled person's grant scheme, which is administered by local authorities, assistance is provided to adapt, extend, or provide additional facilities in a house to render it more suitable for the needs of a disabled person. The nature and extent of the facilities required in any individual case is a matter for the local authority concerned.
