Vol. 455 No. 4

Written Answers. - Youthreach Programme.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

101 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has to undertake a staffing review as part of the Youthreach programme; and when the recommendations will be implemented. [12230/95]

Paragraph 6.37 of the Programme for Competitiveness and Work stated: "The provision of Youthreach programmes will be expanded and discussions will be held to review the staffing arrangements for these programmes".

The number of approved Youthreach places within the education sector has been increased from 1,600 to 2,450 since 1994.

The commitment to review the staffing arrangements has been the subject of discussions with the relevant management and staff interests. Proposals have been sought from a number of consultants to undertake a review of the staffing of Youthreach programmes. These proposals are under consideration at present. The contract for this study will be placed shortly.
