Vol. 455 No. 7

Victim Support Bill, 1995: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to provide for the support, counselling, legal advice and compensation for victims of crime.

Is the Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since the Bill is not opposed, Second Stage will, under Standing Orders shall be taken in Private Members' time.

I move:

That the Bill be taken in Private Members' time.

Question put and agreed to.

A Cheann Comhairle——

I am sorry, Deputy——

I tried to ask a question on the Order of Business but because of the position of the Chair, you were unable to see me. That is not the fault of the Chair but I want to ask the Minister for Justice whether she has had any discussions with the Garda authorities——

This is irrelevant. The Deputy is out of order.

——and if she has made any arrangements to ensure that what happened in Slane last weekend will not happen again. Will she use the same resources——

This is audacious of the Deputy.
