Vol. 456 No. 1

Written Answers. - Allocation of Funds.

James Leonard

Question:

43 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals, if any, he has to review the system of allocating funding for local improvement schemes and recognise the needs of some counties which have upwards of a ten-year waiting list. [11841/95]

The funds available for this scheme in 1995 total £3 million as compared with £2.5 million in 1994. These have been allocated in full to county councils on as equitable a basis as possible. The administration of the scheme is devolved to county councils and details of waiting lists in individual counties are not available in my Department. The extent of such lists can be influenced by the different practices adopted in different counties and is not, necessarily, an objective measure of relative need.
