Vol. 456 No. 1

Written Answers. - Environmental Protection Agency.

Hugh Byrne

Question:

132 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for the Environment the status of his plans to situate the Environmental Protection Agency at Johnstown Castle, County Wexford, particularly in view of his response to Parliamentary Question No. 116 of 1 June 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13563/95]

On 29 June 1995, I announced the Government decision to locate new permanent headquarters for the Environmental Protection Agency in the grounds of Johnstown Castle. Legislation necessary to authorise this is being drafted and I intend to present it to the Oireachtas as soon as possible. The agency is, meanwhile, developing appropriate building proposals.
