Written Answers. - Teacher Welfare Service.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

30 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, made towards the setting up of a welfare service for teachers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13491/95]

A working party consisting of representatives of management and the teacher unions at primary and second level and my Department was set up to bring forward proposals for the establishment of a welfare service for teachers. The report of the working party, which includes the terms of a draft pilot employee assistance scheme for teachers in primary and second level schools, is currently under consideration in my Department.
