Vol. 456 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Transport Review Group.

Helen Keogh

Question:

31 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Education when the review group on the school transport system will report; the composition of the review group; the reason the Federation of Transport Operators has been excluded from the review group; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13478/95]

I recently announced the setting up of a review committee on school transport. The first meeting of the Committee will take place during October. A date has not as yet been set for the completion of the report of the school transport review committee. The review committee will include representatives from my Department, Bus Éireann and the transport liaison officers.

I can assure the Deputy, however, that all interested parties, including the Federation of Transport Operators, will be given the opportunity as part of the consultative process to put forward their views and will be invited to make a formal submission to the review committee. My Department will give public notice in due course setting out the terms of reference of the review committee and inviting submissions from all interested parties, as part of the review process.
