Vol. 456 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Secretary.

Austin Deasy

Question:

67 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to provide a temporary secretary to St. Mary's Primary School, Dungarvan, County Waterford, to replace the school secretary who is on maternity leave. [13624/95]

The scheme under which the school secretary in question is employed does not provide for the temporary replacement of a secretary who is on maternity leave. Consequently, I am not in a position to facilitate the school in question.

The maternity leave provisions of the scheme are based on those which apply generally in the case of clerical staff in the Civil Service and public service, as distinct from those which apply when teachers are absent on maternity leave.
