175 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of farmers who were told that they were overpaid the extensification premium for 1994; the number in each county; and the steps he proposes to take to assist these farmers. [14258/95]
A number of farmers were informed either in writing or orally that they were overpaid on 1994 premium schemes. I do not have details of the number of farmers involved.
The position with regard to overpayments generally is that arrangements are made by my Department to have the overpayments recouped from future entitlements in some cases while other farmers decide to refund the overpayment directly.
