Vol. 456 No. 5

Written Answers. - Power of Attorney.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

70 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform his views on the current position in relation to power of attorney; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14261/95]

I have had legislation introduced in the Seanad on 30 June last to update the law with regard to ordinary powers of attorney and also to provide for a new type of power of attorney to take effect if the donor should become mentally incapable. This Bill — the Powers of Attorney Bill, 1995 — is currently at Second Stage in that House.
