Vol. 456 No. 5

Written Answers. - Public Procurement Booklet.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

172 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the State bodies under the aegis of his Department that have been specifically asked to comply with the 1994 Public Procurement Booklet; and when each of the State bodies was asked by his Department to comply with the principles contained in the booklet. [14251/95]

The 1994 edition of the booklet, Public Procurement, set out the procedures which should be followed by Government Departments, local and regional authorities and other bodies dependent on State funding, in the award of public sector contracts. The booklet indicated that commercial and non-commercial State bodies should comply with the broad principles of the Government contracts procedures.

On 7 February 1995 my Department brought the booklet to the attention of the following State bodies — Forfás, Forbairt, IDA Ireland, SFADCo, FÁS, the Health and Safety Authority, the Irish Productivity Centre, Nitrigin Éireann Teoranta, the Crafts Council of Ireland and Irish Steel Limited.
