Vol. 456 No. 7

Written Answers. - Charity Collections.

Albert Reynolds

Question:

107 Mr. Reynolds asked the Minister for Justice if she will update and amend the law regarding charity collections in Ireland. [14598/95]

There is a commitment in the Government Policy Agreement to reform the law relating to administration and regulation of charities along the lines of the report of the Committee on Fundraising Activities for Charitable and other purposes which included recommendations relating to the law on charity collections.

A seminar was held in June of this year — which was attended by a wide range of interested bodies — as part of the process of considering what legislative changes are needed in this area and proposals will be brought before Government as quickly as possible.
