Vol. 456 No. 7

Written Answers. - Bonfire Dangers.

Tony Gregory

Question:

110 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if she will request the gardaí to take appropriate steps to relocate any proposed bonfires away from the home of a family (details supplied) in Dublin 10 in order to allay this family's concerns. [14606/95]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that they are fully aware of the concerns of residents with regard to bonfires during Halloween and, for this reason, they will be deploying extra patrols.

The Garda have general powers in relation to the maintenance of public order. However, should existing legislative powers available to the Garda in relation to public order prove insufficient to deal with the type of situation referred to in the question, I will, of course have the matter examined.
