144 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the total number of applications received under the REPS scheme; the total number of approvals issued; the total number of payments made on foot of such approvals to date; the processing period for applications under the REPS scheme; the total amount paid out on foot of works completed under the REPS scheme to date; and the total yet to be paid in respect of works completed under the REPS scheme to date. The information sought by the Deputy in relation to the Rural Environment Protection Scheme (REPS) is as follows:

Number of applications received:

9,400

Number of applications approved:

6,162

Number of applications paid:

5,451

Amount in payments approved:

£21,389,179.37

Amount paid:

£18,988,371.40

The processing period i.e. the period between lodgment of a valid application for payment and payment under the above scheme, is six weeks.
