Vol. 456 No. 7

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 30.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 30 from Deputy Joe Walsh. I now call on Deputy Walsh to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I wish to seek the Adjournment of the House to debate an urgent and important matter, the circumstances surrounding the employment of the personal assistant to the Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Deputy Deenihan, and the apparent breach of social welfare regulations where the said personal assistant was concurrently drawing an invalidity pension while working full-time for the Minister over a period of five months.

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by the Standing Order. Therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.

A Cheann Comhairle——

You must find another way of raising this matter, Deputy.

I intend to.
