Vol. 456 No. 7

Written Answers. - Health Board Pension.

John Browne

Question:

74 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Wexford is paying over one-third of his health board pension in tax in spite of the fact that his only other income is disability benefit. [14670/95]

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that a review of the taxpayer's position has now established that his total income does not exceed the relevant exemption limit of £7,400, therefore, he is not liable to pay tax. An amended certificate of tax-free allowances issued to him on 11 October 1995. Any tax paid since 6 April last will be refunded by the health board on implementation of this certificate.
