Vol. 457 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Joe Walsh

Question:

158 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Social Welfare if a person (details supplied) in County Kerry was in receipt of electricity allowance and television licence, natural gas allowance and television licence, bottled gas refill allowance and television licence, national fuel allowance or assistance under the supplementary welfare allowance scheme; and the periods, if any, during which he received these allowances. [15132/95]

The person concerned was in receipt of a free electricity allowance, from September 1987, free fuel allowance from October 1994, free travel from July 1987 and an annual TV licence. Entitlement to these benefits ceased when his entitlement to invalidity pension ceased last January. A refund of overpayment of these benefits of £267.20 is currently being arranged.

Natural Gas and bottled gas allowances are alternatives to free electricity allowance and were not paid in this case.

There is no record of a claim by the person concerned to supplementary welfare allowance.
