Vol. 457 No. 1

Written Answers. - Leader Funds.

Pat the Cope Gallagher

Question:

174 Mr. Gallagher (Donegal South West) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the amount of additional Leader funds being allocated to Ireland out of the extra 230 million ECU or £184 million that was announced for this scheme by the EU recently; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14930/95]

The additional Leader funding allocated to Ireland recently by the EU amounts to 16.0 million ECU which at current conversion rates amounts to £12.75 million. An additional State contribution brings the total extra funding to £18.27 million and increases the total funding available under Leader II in Ireland to more than £95 million. The additional funding is an endorsement of the approach to Leader in Ireland and will provide a major boost to groups who have been approved for funding.
