Vol. 457 No. 1

Written Answers. - Electricity Supply.

Liam Aylward

Question:

184 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will approve the application by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny for electricity supply to his out-farm under the disadvantaged areas scheme. [15048/95]

The scheme in question is the farm electrification grants scheme. The scheme is designed to subsidise the installation of electricity supply to farms which previously had no supply or where supply is inadequate, in order to facilitate the development and modernisation of farms in disadvantaged areas of the country. This application was recently approved in my Department. The ESB will be in touch with the applicant to advise of the outcome and to quote subsidised terms for supply. As soon as the ESB are notified of acceptance of these terms the applicant will be placed on the ESB's work programme.
