239 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has to reduce the waiting time for ESF grant payments; her views on whether the delay can create hardship to students who have to secure funding for this period; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16392/95]
In the case of regional technical colleges and the Dublin Institute of Technology my Department makes monthly ESF maintenance grant payments to the colleges on the basis of student numbers submitted to the Department. Payments of maintenance grants to individual students are made every month on the basis of the college's record of student attendance. These payments are a matter for the college authorities.
