Vol. 458 No. 1

Request to Move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 30.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 30 from Deputy O'Donoghue.

I wish to seek the Adjournment of the Dáil to raise an issue of the gravest national importance, the seizure yesterday of the largest consignment of illegal drugs in the history of the State and the gross inadequacy of the Government's response to the overwhelming problem of drug importation.

Having considered the matter fully. I do not consider it to be one contemplated by the Standing Order and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
