Vol. 458 No. 1

Written Answers. - Internet Access.

Pat Upton

Question:

68 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education the cost of installing the Internet in all primary and in all second level schools. [16609/95]

In order to access the Internet a school would require a computer, a modem and a telephone line.

Based on the information available to my Department I estimate that, for all schools to have access to the Internet, an expenditure of approximately £4.5 million would be required for the provision of the necessary equipment. An annual recurring cost of approximately £750,000 would also be involved.
