Vol. 458 No. 1

Written Answers. - Surveillance Operations.

Ivor Callely

Question:

77 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the number of confirmed private surveillance operations on Government Ministers that have been drawn to her attention since her appointment; the investigations that took place; the consequent actions, if any, that were taken; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16463/95]

Matters of this kind, even if they arose and could be confirmed, would not necessarily be brought to my attention in the normal way. As the Deputy will be aware, one incident of alleged surveillance of a Minister was brought to my attention and has already been the subject of questions in the House to which I have given a full and comprehensive reply on 24 October 1995, Volume 457, No. 4, cols. 1086 to 1089.
