Vol. 458 No. 2

Written Answers. - Succession Rights.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

93 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform whether it is intended that children of the same father in the first, second and third marriages will have equal rights to his estate on his death. [16706/95]

The Succession Act, 1965, as modified by the Status of Children Act, 1987, provides that all children have the same rights in relation to a parent's estate, whether they are born within or outside marriage. There are no proposals to change that position.
