Question:

110 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Education the third-level institutions of education in which the free tuition fees scheme will apply; and the third-level institutions recognised by the NCEA or the Higher Education Authority in this State at which tuition fees will not be available. The initiative on free tuition fees applies to the following third-level institutions:

University College, Galway
Trinity College, Dublin
Dublin City University
University of Limerick
St. Patrick's College, Maynooth
Pontifical University of Maynooth
National College of Art and Design, Dublin
National College of Industrial Relations, Dublin
Regional Technical College, Athlone
Regional Technical College, Carlow
Regional Technical College, Cork
Regional Technical College, Dundalk
Regional Technical College, Galway
Regional Technical College, Letterkenny
Regional Technical College, Limerick
Regional Technical College, Sligo
Regional Technical College, Tallaght
Regional Technical College, Tralee
Regional Technical College, Waterford
Dublin Institute of Technology
Dún Laoghaire College of Art and Design
Church of Ireland College of Education, Dublin
Coláiste Mhuire, Marino, Dublin

The free fees initiative does not apply to the following third level institutions which are designated by the Minister for Education as institutions to which the NCEA Act 1979 applies:

*Accountancy and Business College, Dublin
Burren College of Art, Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare
Clonliffe (Holy Cross) College, Dublin

Holy Ghost College, Kimmage Manor, Dublin
*HSI College, Limerick
*LSB College, Dublin
*Mid West Business Institute, Limerick
St. John's College, Waterford
St. Michael's House, Dublin
St. Nicholas Montessori College, Dún Laoghaire
St. Patrick's College, Thurles
St. Peter's College, Wexford
*Skerry's College, Cork
Shannon College of Hotel Management, Shannon Airport
*The American College, Dublin

*Denotes private commercial college.
The free fees initiative does not apply either to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, which is designated as an institution of higher education for the purposes of the Higher Education Authority Act 1971.
