Question:

132 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of new claims for unemployment benefit for each of the years from 1990 to 1995. [16776/95]

Statistics are compiled, of the number of new registrations each week on the Live Register. These statistics combine applicants for both unemployment assistance and unemployment benefit and persons signing the Register to qualify for credited contributions. Separate statistics are not maintained in respect of unemployment benefit. The overall number of new registrations for the years from 1990 to date together with the number of people who left the Live Register in those years was as follows:

133 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total number of people currently in receipt of graduated payments in respect of social welfare disability benefit. [16774/95]

The rates of disability benefit are graduated according to an individual's average weekly earnings in the governing contribution year as follows:
