149 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Justice the measures, including legislation and proposals for a constitutional amendment, if any, she is taking to abolish ground rents; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17168/95]
The Government policy agreement contains a commitment to introduce legislation to abolish ground rents as a specific lien on residential property and convert them into normal commerical debt. I am examining at present the measures which would be necessary to give effect to this with a view to putting the matter before Government.
