Vol. 458 No. 5

Written Answers. - Poor Box Fines.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

160 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Justice the number of poor box fines imposed by District Courts during the last two years; the total amount of money involved; the way in which this money was disposed of; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17401/95]

The information sought by the Deputy is not readily available. To compile this information would require the diversion of scarce staff resources from urgent court work and I do not consider that this would be justified. However, I would like to refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 46 of 11 May, 1995 put down by Deputy Nolan.
