Vol. 458 No. 5

Written Answers. - FÁS Courses.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

171 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he is in a position to require people on long-term unemployment who are suspected of dealing in drugs to attend FÁS courses following concern by many communities that drug dealers drawing assistance have large amounts of free time. [17267/95]

The formulation of proposals to deal with suspected drug dealers does not fall within the remit of my Department. Currently, participation on FÁS training and employment programmes is voluntary and I have no plans for change in that regard.
