Vol. 458 No. 5

Written Answers. - Plans for Disabilities Act.

Mary Wallace

Question:

91 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has in relation to the Disabilities Act promised in the Government's programme A Government of Renewal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17179/95]

When the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities submits its report to Government, we will examine its recommendations and any legislation required, to set out the rights of persons with a disability, together with means of redress for those whose rights are denied, will be prepared. Until such time as the Government has had an opportunity to consider the Commission's recommendations, it would not be possible to formulate any plans in this regard.
