Question:

103 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money available in his Department for each year since 1990 for the construction/ renovation of municipal swimming pools; the number of applications in his Department from various local authorities for the construction of swimming pools; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17328/95]

Following are the amounts provided in the Estimates each year since 1990 and the outturns for the construction/refurbishment of swimming pools, whether sponsored by local authorities or by voluntary bodies in co-operation with local authorities.

Funding is being provided in the current year in respect of ten swimming pool projects. In addition, there are a further 25 proposals at various stages of planning before my Department.
