Vol. 458 No. 7

Written Questions. - Proposed Legislation.

Mary Wallace

Question:

63 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Justice the current status of the Fund-raising for Charitable Purposes Bill; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17563/95]

There is a commitment in the Government policy agreement to reform the law relating to administration and regulation of charities along the lines of the Report of the Committee on Fund-raising Activities for Charitable and other purposes which included recommendations relating to the law on charity collections.

Work on the preparation of the necessary legislation is proceeding in my Department and proposals will be brought before the Government as quickly as possible.
