Vol. 458 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dublin Fish Market Closure.

Liam Fitzgerald

Question:

191 Mr. L. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for the Marine the anticipated date for the closure of the Dublin Fish Market in view of the completion and operations of a Fish Auction Hall at Howth, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17861/95]

The management of the Dublin Fish Market is conducted directly by Dublin Corporation and I am not aware of any proposals to close the Fish Market. The suggestion appears to be at odds with the acceptance by Dublin Corporation, in September 1995, of a grant offer of IR£150,000 towards the cost of upgrading the Market under the Operational Programme for Fisheries.
