Vol. 458 No. 8

Written Answers. - Discovery Programme.

Ivor Callely

Question:

46 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the reports and recommendations to date of the discovery programme panel; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17792/95]

The discovery programme, which was officially launched in May 1991, is a research programme with the purpose of enhancing our understanding of Ireland's past through a major programme of research and archaeological excavation. The making of recommendations is not part of the discovery panel's brief.

To date the following reports have been published by the panel:

— Strategies and Questions — 1992
— Discovery Programme Report 1 — Project Results 1992
— Discovery Programme Report 2 — Project Results 1993
— Tara — a Select Bibliography
— Tara — a Guide to Monuments.
In addition to the above, a bilingual poster and information pack has been distributed to every school in the country.
