Vol. 458 No. 8

Written Answers. - URBAN Programme Funding.

Gerard Collins

Question:

67 Mr. Collins asked the Taoiseach the plans, if any, he has for the allocation of additional funds in view of the fact that the European Commission has allocated an additional 4.82 Mecus to Ireland from the reserve for Community initiatives for the URBAN programme and in view of the change in the rules which allows a particular emphasis to be put on medium sized cities, which in this instance should include Limerick. [17667/95]

The Government has already decided that Finglas and Darndale will have priority for further funding under the URBAN Programme.

The question of the division of total funding available under the URBAN initiative will be considered by the Government in accordance with arrangements to be agreed with the European Commission in due course.
