74 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Finance if he has received a recent anonymous statement alleging systematic and significant non-compliance with tax and customs legislation by named entities in the wholesale and retail trade based in Dublin; and if so, the action, if any, he intends to take in the matter. A copy of the anonymous statement referred to in the Deputy's question was not sent directly to my Department. However, my colleague, the Minister for Enterprise and Employment, has referred a copy to me.
I understand that the Revenue Commissioners also received a copy and that they will take whatever action they consider appropriate. I trust that the Deputy will appreciate that on the grounds of confidentiality the Commissioners will be precluded from giving details of the outcome of any inquiries undertaken by them in relation to this matter.
