Vol. 458 No. 8

Written Answers. - Sight Testing.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

89 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Health the number of persons who had their eyes tested under the sight testing scheme by the North-Eastern Health Board as encompassed in 1991 health statistics which give a figure of 6,914 tests; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17831/95]

Limerick East): The information referred to by the Deputy was reported to my Department by the North-Eastern Health Board. Due to a clerical error by the board the figure of 6,914 adults recorded as being treated by private opticians in 1991 under the sight testing scheme were, in fact, treated by the health board's own ophthalmologist.
